Call to Worship (Adapted from John 20:1-18):

Leader: Early in the morning, while it was still dark, Mary came to the tomb—expecting death, but finding an empty grave.

People: We come this morning to encounter the Risen Lord!

Leader: She ran to tell the others—confused, grieving, hoping.

People: Like Mary, we bring our questions, our doubts, and our longing for Jesus.

Leader: And then Jesus spoke her name. He called to her, and she knew: The Lord is alive!

People: Jesus calls us by name too. He meets us in our sorrow and opens our eyes to joy.

Leader: So come let us worship the Risen Christ. He is not in the tomb.

ALL: He is alive and calls us to proclaim: He has Risen indeed!

Litany (Lectionary reading - Adapted 1 Corinthians 5:6-8)

Leader: Do you not know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough?

People: We come, ready to be made new

Leader: Christ calls us to leave behind what corrupts and cling to what gives life.

People: We come, ready to be cleansed, whole, and faithful.

Leader: Clean out the old yeast, so that you may be a new batch. In Christ, you already are unleavened.

People: We come, not in our strength, but in the power of the Lamb who was sacrificed for us.

Leader: Therefore, let us celebrate the festival—not with the yeast of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

ALL: We come to worship in spirit and in truth. We come to celebrate the risen Christ!

Declaration of Faith - The Apostle’s Creed

I Believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, I believe in Jesus Christ,  God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended to the dead. On the third day, He rose again; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father; and he will come to judge the living and the dead.  I believe in the Holy Spirit; the Holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the everlasting life. Amen.

Call to Confession

Leader: The Apostle Peter stood before a gathered crowd and declared, “ truly understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears Him and does what is right is acceptable to Him.”

People: Yet how often we draw boundaries that God has broken down.

Leader: How often we withhold the message of peace in Jesus Christ because of fear, prejudice, or pride.

People: Forgive us, O God. Cleanse us by the power of the cross, and raise us to new life through the resurrection of Christ.

Leader: Let us come to the Lord, confessing the ways we have failed to live as witnesses to His grace.

Assurance of Pardon

Leader: Friends Hear the Good News! Peter proclaimed: “He is the one ordained by God as judge of the living and the dead.”

People: “All the prophets testify about Him that everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name.”

Leader: Who then can bring a charge against God’s beloved?

People:  Only Jesus Christ. And He did not put us to shame.

Leader: But we are not put to shame! We who believe in His death and resurrection are clothed in His righteousness. In Jesus you are forgiven.

People: Thanks be to our Risen Lord!  Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
